FFWLD is a lightweight Perl utility that retrieves current weather observations from the WeatherLink® API and generates configurable weather cards for personal web pages, badges for web forum signatures, and JSON output.

Everything is generated server-side, keeping your WeatherLink API credentials private and eliminating the need for client-side JavaScript.

Requirements

• Perl 5.10 or later
• LWP::UserAgent (Debian/Ubuntu: libwww-perl, RHEL/Fedora: perl-libwww-perl)
• Config::IniFiles (Debian/Ubuntu: libconfig-inifiles-perl, RHEL/Fedora: perl-Config-IniFiles)
• Imager (Debian/Ubuntu: libimager-perl, RHEL/Fedora: perl-Imager)
  (Only if optional weather badge generation is desired)
• WeatherLink API key, secret, and station ID
• A WeatherLink account with access to a station
• A web server capable of serving static HTML

Production versions have been tested more thoroughly, at more sites.

There is no "Production" release at this time.

Beta versions are initial releases or releases incorporating significant enhancements. While believed to produce correct results (and often improved results over prior releases), they remain designated as Beta until they've received sufficient real-world use to inspire confidence in their correctness and stability. Feedback, particularly bug reports, is always welcome.

Beta versions are thoroughly regression-tested. Deviations, if any, are noted in Changes--as are the reasons for them.

Source & Docs: Alpha-Test Version

Alpha versions may be initial releases, part of the normal course of project evolution, or—as with Beta versions—the result of enhancement requests or bug reports. Compared to Beta versions, Alpha releases may not have been as thoroughly tested or regression-tested, often because I lack the necessary raw test data or because the changes make meaningful regression testing impractical.

Alpha versions may be promoted to Beta status after they've been downloaded and sufficient time has passed without problem reports.

Be forewarned: Alpha versions may be in a state of flux, so there may be surprises.
